Who is the Public Transport Authority (PTA)? 

The Public Transport Authority is the primary supplier of public transport services across Perth, WA including Rail, bus and ferry services in the metropolitan are (Transperth), public transport services in regional centres (TransRegional) and coach and rail passenger services to regional areas (Transwa). They’re also responsible for designing, building and maintaining transport infrastructure and protecting the long-term viability of the States freight rail corridor and infrastructure.


In short the PTA is a big deal. They have a range of opportunities becoming available to work within the Office of Major Transport Division (OMTID). The division is responsible for delivering the high value and high complexity major transport projects.  As one of the largest single investments in public transport the city has seen, METRONET will help positively change how people live and travel in Perth. 

About the opportunities with PTA

To support the next infrastructure growth phase, we are seeking Expressions of Interest from individuals who can undertake the duties of integral positions in the Office of Major Transport Infrastructure Division (OMTID).


METRONET Delivery Projects

You will be working in the Division responsible for delivering the high value and high complexity major transport projects.  As one of the largest single investments in public transport the city has seen, METRONET will help positively change how people live and travel in Perth. 


The METRONET projects will be delivered over various timeframes up to 2025 and include:

  • Thornlie-Cockburn LinkPerth’s first east-west cross line connection, making travel around the city by train more flexible and providing a higher level of public transport service to Perth’s southern suburbs.

  • Yanchep Rail ExtensionExtending the Joondalup Line 14.5km north to Yanchep.

  • New Bayswater Station.  This will become a key METRONET precinct giving people the option to travel to the Airport, Swan Valley tourist region, the CBD and beyond.

  • Morley-Ellenbrook Line.  The 21km line will give people living and working in Perth’s north-eastern suburbs more transport choice.  

  • Byford Rail Extension.  Extending the Armadale Line to Byford.  The project will further help improve traffic flow by reconfiguring Thomas Road into a road-over-rail bridge.

  • Victoria Park – Canning Level Crossing Removal. This project is Perth’s first major elevated rail designed to improve public transport safety, create new and versatile public open space for the community and reduce traffic congestion.
